2nd Lieutenant Douglas Rutherford Morison , 3rd (attached 2nd) Battalion, The Wiltshire Regiment, was born in January 1885, and was at Loretto 1897-1904. He was a Prefect and played in the XV. He went up to Clare College, Cambridge, and was subsequently in business in India, then in Canada. When war broke out he came home, went to Cambridge, and trained with the University O.T.C. He was given a commission in the 3rd (S.Reserve) Battalion, The Wiltshire Regiment, and he proceeded to France early in 1915 to join the 2nd Battalion. He was killed at the head of his Platoon on March 12th 1915.
Donald Rutherford Morison, 5th Australian Light Horse, was born on July 20th 1893. He was at Loretto from January 1908 to April 1910. In September 1914 he enlisted in the Australian Light Horse, and served with them in Egypt and Gallipoli. He was killed in action in Gallipoli in June 1916
MAJOR JAMES MAIDMONT MORRISON, 5th (Reserve) Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (The South Down Militia), was born in March 1870, and was at Loretto from 1885 to 1887. On leaving school he joined the 5th Royal Irish Rifles, and obtained his Captaincy in 1893. He served with his Battalion throughout the South African campaign of 1899-1902. During the Great War Major Morrison served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, and was badly wounded in Gallipoli. He was taken to hospital in Alexandria, and died there on July 28, 1915, from pneumonia, following wounds and exposure on the battlefield.
